Important Update – Data Protection Act
EveryData Jamaica is diligently preparing for the implementation of the Data Protection Act which comes into effect on December 1st.
We assure you that we prioritize the protection of data and take information seriously. EveryData Jamaica, as a data controller, remains compliant and is committed to ensuring the highest level of information security and confidentiality. In fact, consistent with the Credit Reporting Act, the importance of data privacy and the explicit consent of data subjects within the processing, use, dissemination, and storage of their data has always been one of the central pillars guiding our operations.
In preparing for this new regulation, we have strengthened our processes and implemented measures in strict adherence to the Data Protection Act. These measures are designed with you, our valued stakeholders in mind and provide you with added assurance regarding the privacy and security of the information in our custody.
Over the last year, we have embarked on a comprehensive review of all aspects of our operations, and engaging external stakeholders to ensure that we are fully compliant with this Act. We have also been executing the required training of our team members to ensure that they understand the fundamentals of the Act and any new procedure that will flow from its implementation. We can now state that we are ready and now await further information from the Office of the Information Commissioner to undertake the formal registration as outlined within the Act.”
